Water Takes Over The "OLOWO" Parts of Lagos (Lekki, Victoria Island and Ajah environs)
July 10, 2017As the rain comes down daily since about two weeks now. the entire environs of Lekki, Victoria Island and Ajah are experiencing heavy flooding. The environment of Lekki Island, Ajah and Victoria Island have become places people never wished they are living. The area is said to be below the sea level and is seriously affected by the rain. The gutters are not draining into the sea or any large body of water so the rain is having a devastating effect on the people of these residential areas of Lagos. The people of Ajah and its environs are praying constantly for the rain to stop as the roads, gutter and their rooms are flooded with water.
Many people are trapped in their rooms and are unable to go out as a result of the heavy down pour. My guess is as good as yours, many properties would have been destroyed as a result of this flood. We are yet to receive any statistics on this.
People have taken to Twitter to react to the flood.

Meet the "wisest" man in Lekki. He understands that in order to live at Lekki you must be able to buy canoe/kayak for raining days. #Flood pic.twitter.com/AuZxO9WDnD— SunKanMi (@SmilesParker) July 8, 2017

Lekki is massively flooded. @AkinwunmiAmbode there is still drainage work to be done. This rain shouldn't be causing such levels of flooding— Tayo Oviosu (@oviosu) May 23, 2017
As a state and with climate change not sure Lagos will survive for so long like this. The state govt is clearly not doing enough.— JJ Femi-Ema (@femiTRIPP) June 18, 2017
Rain, Rain Go Away
Come Again another Day
Ajah environs is begging you
